What are the appeals of Pink Floyd to you?  What fascinates you about Pink Floyd?

Please give us a little bit of background of Brit Floyd? How did you start…reasons for recreating Pink Floyd?
ブリット・フロイドのバックグラウンドを教えてください。なぜピンク・フロイドのカヴァー・バンドを始めようと思ったのですか？

There is so much that appeals about Pink Floyd. Their music is simple yet at the same time complex. It has so much depth in the subject matter of the lyrics and concepts of the albums. They were a band that reinvented themselves many times and there is a real evolutionary journey through their entire catalogue of music and their history as a band. 
ピンク・フロイドの魅力は沢山あるのですが、彼らの音楽はシンプルでありつつも複雑で、歌詞やアルバムのコンセプトも非常に奥深い。彼らは幾度となく自己改革しながら、その創造してきた音楽やその活動を通して進化し続けていたバンドでした。

Brit Floyd started back in 2011. We played our first concert in Liverpool in the United Kingdom. I had been playing in another Pink Floyd tribute show for 17 years before I took the decision to break away from that band and start my own Pink Floyd show. I wanted to do a better job of recreating Pink Floyd music and work with other musicians to accomplish that. I also wanted to widen the repertoire and cover more of Pink Floyd’s music live than had been the case in my previous tribute show. 
ブリット・フロイドの活動は2011年にスタートし、イギリスのリヴァプールで初コンサートを開きました。それまで私は17年間別のピンク・フロイドのトリビュート・バンドで活動していたのですが、自分自身のピンク・フロイドのショウをやってみたいと考えたのです。ピンク・フロイドの音楽を再現するに至って、更に良いものを求めていましたし、それを実現させる為に他のミュージシャンと活動したいと思っていました。それから、もっとレパートリーを増やしてピンク・フロイドの他の音楽もカヴァーしたかったのです。

Had any of your band members (including guest players) participated in recordings or concerts of Pink Floyd?
ブリット・フロイドのメンバーやサポート・メンバーの内、ピンク・フロイドのレコーディングやコンサートに参加したことのあるメンバーはいるのでしょうか？

We’ve heard a story that David Gilmore had actually played at one your shows on the spur of the moment in the past.  Is it true?
デヴィッド・ギルモアが過去に突然ショウに飛び入り出演するということがあったそうですが、そうなのですか？

The images of artworks and sleeves/jackets being used for the circular projector seem to be the original.  Are they borrowed from Pink Floyd?
ステージ上の円形のプロジェクターに映るアルバム・アートワークのイメージはオリジナルのものと同じに見えますが、ピンク・フロイドから借りたものですか？

I first had the chance to meet David Gilmour back in 1994 when he came along to a concert I was playing at in London and he came back stage to say hello much to everyone’s surprise. I subsequently got to play at his 50th Birthday party a couple of years later and on that occasion I was lucky enough to play on stage with Rick Wright, the original keyboard player with Pink Floyd. David Gilmour, Nick Mason and even George Harrison from The Beatles were watching in the audience. 
初めてデヴィッド・ギルモアと会ったのは1994年で、私がロンドンでコンサートをやっている時に、驚いたことに彼がバックステージに挨拶しにやってきてくれたのです。次にデヴィッドと会ったのは、その２年後の彼の50歳の誕生パーティで、幸運にも、ピンク・フロイドのオリジナル・キーボード・プレイヤーのリック・ライトとステージで演奏する機会を得ました。デヴィッド・ギルモア、ニック・メイスン、それにザ・ビートルズのジョージ・ハリスンまでもがオーディエンスとして観ていました。

The story about David Gilmour playing with Brit Floyd sadly is not true, however a couple of the musicians that have been members of Pink Floyd’s touring band have played with Brit Floyd on several occasions. Guy Prat, the long time bass player with Pink Floyd, David Gilmour and more recently Nick Mason, has made a guest appearance on stage with Brit Floyd and also Scott Page, the saxophonist with Pink Floyd on the Momentary Lapse of reason tour, has performed with Brit Floyd on a number of occasions too.
デヴィッド・ギルモアがブリット・フロイドと演奏したことがあるという噂は、残念ながら事実ではありませんが、ピンク・フロイドのツアー・メンバーとして活躍していたミュージシャンたちが何度か我々と一緒に演奏してくれています。長年ピンク・フロイドやデヴィッド・ギルモア、最近ではニック・メイスンのベース・プレイヤーとして活躍しているガイ・プラットも一度ゲスト出演してくれていますし、ピンク・フロイドの『モメンタリー・ラプス・オブ・リーズン』ツアーでサックスを担当していたスコット・ペイジも何度かブリット・フロイドと演奏してくれています。

All the imagery that you see projected on the circle during our concerts has been produced specially for Brit Floyd. Very often it can be a recreation of classic Pink Floyd related imagery from their albums or their concert screen videos, or it can be something that has been created for our show in a Pink Floyd style.
我々のコンサートであの円形のプロジェクターに映し出されるイメージは全て、ブリット・フロイドのコンサート用に作られたものです。典型的なピンク・フロイドのアルバムやコンサートのスクリーン・ビデオのイメージを再現したものも多くありますし、ブリット・フロイドの為に作られたピンク・フロイド的なイメージもあります。

What do you focus on in replicate music/concert by Pink Floyd?  Have you had difficulties in recreating their concerts?  Is there anything that you could not recreate? (members, equipment, costumes, video images etc)

Is it possible for you to play all the Pink Floyd songs?

Do you have any part of your show that is pre-eminent, standout or even superior to that of Pink Floyd?
ブリット・フロイドのコンサートで傑出している点、またはピンク・フロイドよりも卓越している点があるとしたら、それは何でしょうか？

When recreating the Pink Floyd concert experience, it’s important for us to focus on the detail, both in the performance of the music and in the visual aspects of the concert. There is a great deal of attention spent on every aspect of the concert, whether it be in the guitar sounds or the keyboard sounds etcetera, or the synchronization of the lights and video with our performance of the music.
ピンク・フロイドのコンサートを再び体験できるようにするには、演奏やステージ上のヴィジュアルに細かく配慮しています。ギターやキーボードのサウンドもそうですし、照明や映像が上手く演奏とシンクロするようにするなど、コンサートにおけるあらゆる面において多大な注意を払っています。

It's never easy to recreate a Pink Floyd concerts experience, as they were such pioneers of so many of the things we take for granted these days on stage. After spending 26 years playing their music though, I have lots of experience doing this and I’m lucky to be working with very talented musicians and technicians, who are all very passionate about what we do.
ピンク・フロイドは現在となっては当たり前となっていることの多くを当時既に彼ら自身のコンサートでやっていたので、それをオーディエンスが再び体験できるようにするというのは決して楽なことではありません。それでも、私も彼らの音楽を26年間演奏してきて多くの経験を積んできましたし、このバンドに情熱を持って参加してくれている非常に才能豊かなミュージシャンやテクニシャンたちと一緒に活動できることを幸運に感じています。

There are obviously some things that Pink Floyd did in their concerts that would be difficult for us to recreate. We haven’t quite got the budget available to put on the most massive productions that Floyd were famous for, but we certainly do put on an impressive show. There are some Pink Floyd tracks that it would be difficult or even impossible to play live. Probably some of the older more experimental tracks such as Several Species from Ummagumma would be impossible and probably not desirable to play live, but certainly from the Medal album onwards there are very few tracks that Brit Floyd has not performed.
もちろんのこと、ピンク・フロイドのコンサートで再現が難しいことは幾つかあります。彼らの有名な最も大規模なコンサート・プロダクションを実現するだけの予算は我々にはありませんが、それでもブリット・フロイドのショウは目を見張る印象的なステージングとなっています。ライヴで再現するのが難しい、または不可能な楽曲もあります。例えば、アルバム『ウマグマ（原題：Ummagumma）』に収録されている「毛のふさふさした動物の不思議な歌（原題：Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict）」のような初期の実験的な楽曲は再現不可能でライヴ向きではないと思いますが、『おせっかい（原題：Meddle）』以降の作品であれば、ほとんど演奏したことがあります。

I wouldn’t ever claim that we are superior in any way to Pink Floyd, but you would never have gotten to hear the variety of Floyd tracks played at an original Pink Floyd concert that you will hear at a Brit Floyd show and it’s unlikely you would have heard tracks recreated as faithfully to the original album versions as we try to do. 
 ブリット・フロイドがピンク・フロイドよりも優れているなどとは決して思いませんが、我々のショウではオリジナルのピンク・フロイドよりもヴァラエティに富んだ内容のセットリストを楽しめますし、我々ほどに忠実にオリジナルのアルバム・ヴァージョンを再現して演奏しているバンドはいないでしょう。

ジャパン・ツアーについて

In general, we are not accustomed to see tribute bands/shows very often.  So we’d appreciate it very much if you kindly let us know how to enjoy such shows.
一般に、日本ではトリビュート・バンドの演奏やトリビュート・コンサートを観ることが稀ですので、どのように楽しんだら良いのか教えていただけますか？

Also please introduce us the high points of the show.

日本のファンへのメッセージをお願いします。

Japanese audiences should enjoy our show the same way as they would enjoy an original Pink Floyd concert or any other rock music concert. Listen, watch, soak up the music and mood, sing, even dance if you want to. If you are already a fan of Pink Floyd music just enjoy the music that you are familiar with and love and if you are not a fan of their music yet, hopefully you will become one through our performances of the wonderful music that they created.
日本の皆さんも、オリジナルのピンク・フロイドや他のロック・ミュージックのコンサートを楽しむように我々のショウを楽しんでもらえたらと思います。耳で楽しみ、目で楽しみ、その音楽やムードに浸り、歌って、さらには踊って楽しむというのも良いですね。ピンク・フロイドのファンであれば、馴染みのある大好きな彼らの音楽を楽しんでもらえれば良いでしょうし、まだ彼らの音楽のファンではないという人たちも、ブリット・フロイドの演奏を通して彼らの素晴らしい音楽のファンになってもらえたら嬉しいです。

It will be our first time playing in Japan and our first time visiting the country and I can honestly say that we are extremely happy and excited to be bringing our show to Tokyo for Pink Floyd fans and live music fans in general to enjoy. 
ブリット・フロイドにとって今回が初めての日本ツアーとなり、日本を訪れるのも初めてとなります。メンバー全員が、ピンク・フロイドのファンや音楽ファンに自分たちのショウを東京で楽しんでもらえることを非常に嬉しく思っています。
